Abington Youth Football

Parent’s Code of Conduct

I agree to provide positive support, care and encouragement for my child participating in the game of Football or Cheer by following this Parent’s Code of Conduct.

  1. I will not force my child to participate in sports.

  2. I will encourage good sportsmanship by demonstrating positive support for all players, cheerleaders, coaches, and officials at every game, competition, practice or other youth sport related event.

  3. I will place the emotional and physical well-being of my child ahead of my own personal desire to win and remember the game is intended for youths, not adults.

  4. I will inform the head coach of any physical disability or ailment that may affect the safety of my child or the safety of others.

  5. I will insist that my child play in a safe and healthy environment that is free from drugs, tobacco and alcohol and will refrain from their use at all youth sport events.

  6. I will support, respect and show courtesy towards all coaches and officials working with my child at every game, competition, practice or other youth sport related event, in order to encourage a positive and enjoyable experience for all.

  7. I will require my child’s coaches learn the rules of the game, policies of the OCYFL, and are trained in the responsibilities of being a youth sports coach upholding the Coaches’ Code of Conduct.

  8. I will teach my child to play by the rules, to resolve conflicts without resorting to hostility or violence and to respect all other players, coaches, officials and spectators regardless of circumstances or ability.

  9. I will teach my child that doing one’s best, competing fairly, and developing one’s skills is more important than winning, so that my child will never feel defeated by the outcome of a game or their performance.

  10. I will not engage in any kind of unsportsmanlike behavior with any official, coach, player, or parent at any game, competition, practice or other youth related event.

  11. I will refrain from coaching my child or other players during games and practices, unless I am one of the official coaches of the team.

  12. I will make a commitment to ensure my child is at all practices and games on time and ready to participate.

  13. I will respect the authority of the officials during games and will never question, discuss, or confront a coach at the game field or during practice without first approaching the AYFL parent representative to address any issues concerning my child.

AYFL will not tolerate any form of harassment or unruly behavior towards its volunteer coaching staff, board of directors or any other volunteer associated with the football or cheer program. If you are found in violation of this code AYFL Board may seek disciplinary action by verbal or written notice first, followed by parental season suspension and finally by complete removal from the program.
