Cheering Season

Mites, Midgets and Peewees

The season starts the middle of August and continues through the weekend of Nov 22nd. Practices are held 4 to 5 days per week Mon-Fri. We occasionally hold weekend practices. There is one football game a week starting in early Sept. The games are held on either Saturday evenings or Sundays, there are usually 3-4 home games per season. We do travel to other area towns for the other 3-4 games. Transportation to all games is the responsibility of the cheerleader.

The girls are required to attend all games and practices. When you sign up for cheerleading you are making a commitment to make AYF Cheerleading your first priority over other sports and activities. Attached is a copy of the AYF By-Law pertaining to this rule.

We will be entering into the New England Cheer and Dance Competition, Boston, Ma. Also, the O.C.Y.C.A competition to be held at a surrounding area high school. AYF will provide bus transportation to the New England Cheer & Dance Competition. Transportation to the O.C.Y.C.A competition will be your responsibility.

New Cheer News

Competition this year, will be mandatory! Due to the time involved with the construction of the routines, we will not be able to work any girls out of the program for any reason.  We understand that this may complicate your decision to have your daughter(s) participate; however, we feel it is in the best interest of the girls and coaches alike. There are two competitions at the end of the season, usually the second and third weekend of November. The girls must participate in both competitions. This only applies to the Mites, Peewees and the Midgets.

Mighty Mites Cheerleading

Mighty mites will be a little different this year. We are going to focus mainly on instruction. The registration fee is now $125.00. The girls will begin practice the second or third week of August but they will practice 2-3 days a week maximum.

They will cheer at home games only, and perform a half time routine and cheer the second half of the Mite football game on Sundays.
